A retelling of a true story
The Elephant Man is a 1980 American feature film. The script is adapted from the true story of Joseph Carey Merrick, the British "Elephant Man" in the 19th century. The protagonist, the Elephant Man, is a severely deformed British man who is used as a circus exhibit. One day, a doctor rescued him from the circus director who abused him, and then slowly helped the Elephant Man regain his rightful human rights.
I can't believe I actually cried my heart out. After all, I had a rough idea of where the plot was going, but... it really made me feel sick to my stomach. It’s really heartbreaking to think that there really were Elephant Man in history, and that many people with various physical disabilities were treated in this way.
Human beings always make the same mistake
While watching, I was also reminded of a phenomenon. There are many scenes in the movie where peanut fans watch the bullies being bullied, and some people go out of their way to pay money to see it. Even if someone scolded the peanut lovers later, they would always be like, "Oh, I'm not the only one watching." "Let's just see the monsters." "I'm just curious. Everyone has curiosity." It reminded me a lot. When a major accident occurs, there are always some people who deliberately run to pat the injured. There are clips leaked on the Internet, and there are always some people who want to satisfy their curiosity. "After I watched it, please don't repost it. But I haven't found it yet. I hope someone can send it to me."
Watching this movie can help you reflect on whether your behavior is really appropriate. I highly recommend watching it for yourself.
